Joanne "Grandma" Powell 74 of Ormond Beach FL passed away at her home on October 4 2011. The family will receive friends on Friday October 7th between the hours of 5-7 pm at Lohman Funeral Home-Ormond; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 8th at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Joanne and her family relocated to Volusia County in 1996 from Maryland. She was a Day Care Specialist; a member of Sodality through St. Jude Catholic Church she was an avid reader enjoyed dancing and cooking. Joanne loved her family and the children she cared for. Her home was the place to be everyone lovingly knew her as "Grandma" Powell. She is survived by her children Carol (Frank) Feny Daytona Beach Ellen (Roger) Ganbin Daytona Beach William Powell Ormond Beach Thomas Powell Daytona Beach Marie (Raymond) Scott Daytona Beach and Kathleen (Christopher) Powell Holly Hill three sisters Ann Freer Margaret Hyrkus and Francis Whitehair all of Maryland as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Carlton and her brother Bernard.
