Joan M. Parker 81 passed away peacefully on December 6 2011. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 17th at 2:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange 1201 Dunlawton Ave Port Orange FL with Pastor Scott Kirschner officiating. Joan was born on April 11 1930 to the late John and Ethel Malcolmson in Albuquerque NM. She moved to the area in 1972 from Mt. Holly NJ. She began working for the City of Port Orange in 1974. In her 18 plus years with the City she received numerous promotions and held positions such as Office Director Building and Zoning Coordinator and Development Review Coordinator. Joan also received outstanding performance reviews and commendations for her work. She was a member of the Port Orange Elk Hearts. She was known to her friends and colleagues as ""Mama Joan"". She retired in 1992 and was appointed to the Planning Commission that same year and served the Commission up until the time of her death. She has left behind her knowledge experience and love for the City of Port Orange. She enjoyed spending time with her family (and her extended family the City of Port Orange) loved the beach was an avid reader and was passionate about traveling. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Paul Parker of Port Orange FL; her children Sandy Talbot of Port Orange FL Gary (Diane) Parker of Port Orange FL Lori (Bill) Partington of Ormond Beach FL; her grandchildren Allison Heather Ryan Catherine Joan Anne and Faith.
