Obituary

Jill Elizabeth Stanton 79 a long-time resident of Harbor Oaks passed away July 13 2009. Jill was born in Syracuse NY and later made her home in Skaneateles NY with her late husband Tex and their seven children. She thrived on new adventures and experiences especially when her children were small. After her husband passed away in 1978 she relocated to Harbor Oaks and immediately began making new friends. She became a member of the Elks Club American Legion Eagles Club and US Coast Guard Auxiliary all located in Port Orange. Throughout her life she was well known as being an avid fisherman and would most likely be found at either Rose Bay or the Halifax River doing what she loved the most fishing. Jill will be remembered most as being a "champion for the family"; a caring thoughtful woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. Left to cherish her memories are her Daughters Virginia (Harold) Pogeweit of Skaneateles NY Sharon (Charles) Patchen of Lebanon TN Christine (Charles) Hennegar of Port Orange FL Dannie (James) Taylor of Skaneateles NY; Sons Richard (Mary) Stanton of Skaneateles NY Mark Stanton of Owasco NY Robert (Margaret) Stanton of Owasco NY; twenty-four Grandchildren and twenty-nine Great-Grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was pre-deceased by her husband Tex. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Volusia Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL 32128.
