Jess H. Grubb passed away April 12, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born December 26, 1922 in Springfield, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Verna Ashworth Grubb. Jess and Verna began their life together in Springfield and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1970.
Jess was the son of John and Lillie Grubb. His father hired a professional boxer to train Jess in the art of boxing, which was a skill he enjoyed in his younger days. He was enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and in the Army Air Corp. His memories of the depression era created an interest in economics that continued throughout his life. He worked as a self employed contractor building a few homes in Springfield. Later in life he was self employed in the furniture business in both Springfield, Ohio and Daytona Beach, Florida.
Jess enjoyed sharing time with his family. He is survived by his son, Dan J (Becky) Grubb of Springboro, Ohio, daughter, Jessie V Turner of Ponte Vedra, Florida, four grandchildren Daniel (Carol) Grubb, Shari (Rob) MacFarlane, Kristine (Phillip) Hall, and Traci (Steve) Riggs. Nine great-grandchildren, Jake Grubb, Jesse Grubb, Kylie MacFarlane, Colin MacFarlane, Megan Riggs, Emily Riggs, Kelsey Hall, Joshua Hall, and William Hall.
During the last nine years Jess has resided summers in Ohio, and winters in Florida. There will be a graveside service in Daytona Florida at and a memorial service in Springboro, Ohio. Jess will be interred at Daytona Memorial Park
