Jerry Lee Howard, 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Family was the center of Jerry's life.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jerry spent her early years there and graduated from high school in her hometown. She later made Florida her home, moving to Orange City in 2005 before eventually relocating to DeLand.

Jerry was known for her strong work ethic and dedication throughout her career in the dry-cleaning industry. She was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church in Glenwood, Florida, where she found strength in her faith and fellowship with others.

Family was the center of Jerry's life. She enjoyed cooking and treasured every opportunity to gather with her loved ones. She loved her family dearly and found great joy in spending time with them. In her quieter moments, Jerry was an avid reader, enjoyed playing solitaire, and could often be found watching her favorite old western movies.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 40 years, Leonard Howard, in 1996; her son, Lawrence Howard, in 1971; and her son, Phillip Howard, in 1995.

She enjoyed cooking and treasured every opportunity to gather with her loved ones.

Jerry leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory and miss her greatly, including her daughters, Kimberly Howard Smith (Gus) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Alain Howard Dase (Darrin, Sr.) of DeLand; her sons, Leonard Howard of Sidell, Louisiana, and Archie Sumlin (Antoinette) of New Orleans; and her grandchildren, Gabrielle Carter (T'Shawn), Gus Smith V, Darrin Dase, Jr., Daunte Dase, Darian Dase, Leonard Howard, and Leah Howard.

Jerry's legacy of love, faith, hard work, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
