Jerry E. Carter Jr., 58, of Deland, FL, passed away on August 16, 2017 in Debary, FL. Jerry was born on March 10, 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Jerry and Patsy Carter. He moved to Deland 30 years ago from the Jacksonville area. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Jerry was a member of The Turkey Hill Hunt Club in Flagler County. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being involved in wildlife conservation.
Jerry attended school in Georgia and was a Veteran of the United States Navy of 8 years. He is survived by his wife Karleen of 25 years; two sons, Tracy Wingate and his wife Leslie, and Travis Wingate and his wife Jessica both of Georgetown, TN; brother, Lester Carter of Jacksonville, FL; sister Deanna Winters also of Jacksonville, FL; four Grandchildren, Avery, Eleana, Anthony and Angela Wingate and numerous nieces and nephews. He also had a special love for his dogs Simba and Missy. A Celebration of Life Service held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home in Deland. The Family will be receiving friends from 5:00-6:00 pm prior to the service. Memorial donations can be made in the memory of Jerry E. Carter Jr. to Wildlife Conservation.
