Jeremiah Michael Halpin (Jerry) died on Saturday July 20 2013 in the loving care of Florida Memorial Hospital Hospice.

Jerry was born to the Late Patrick and Catherine (nee Foley) Halpin on September 30 1937. He grew up in Listowel County Kerry Ireland where he received his early education. He also studied at St. Mary's College in Cork Ireland.

Following immigration to the United States he served 7 years with the New York State Army National Guard. He trained at Fort Dix New Jersey and became a member of the Fighting Irish' 69th 42nd Rainbow Division. On April 17th 1964 Jerry proudly joined the New York City Police Department and served at the 42nd Precinct The Bronx Task Force and many years at the 20th Precinct in Midtown Manhattan.

On October 12 1963 Jerry married his beloved wife Mary (Marie) McHugh at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Highbridge Bronx NY and they lived mostly in Cold Spring-On-The-Hudson in Putnam County NY where they raised their four children. He was an active volunteer with the Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church where he served as an usher and on the Activities Committee. He was also a member of The Kevin Barry Irish Club of Poughkeepsie NY and the Knights of Columbus in Cold Spring.

After his retirement and 46 years in New York Jerry and Marie moved to Ormond Beach FL where he continued his membership with the 3rd degree Knights of Columbus Father Gill Council #13018 at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church and the 4th degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Grady Council at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Prior to his illness he volunteered with the 4th degree Knights of Columbus at the Bennet Nursing Home for Military Veterans. He was also a member of the Irish-American Club of Daytona and the North East Florida and the 10-13 Club of Retired New York City Police Officers.

His death is sadly regretted by his loving wife of 50 years Marie Daughter Patricia (Kent) Peterson of Lawrence Kansas Sons Kevin (Michelle) Halpin of Fredericksburg Virginia and Kieran Halpin of Yonkers NY. Jerry was preceded in death by his 19 year old Daughter Geraldine in 1987. He also leaves behind his beloved Grandchildren Thomas Megan John Matthew Marisa Kyle Reagan and Austin. Jerry also leaves behind his brother P.J. (Cathy) Halpin and Sister Elma (Philip) Thornton both of Dublin Ireland and Sister Nora O'Connor of Killarney County Kerry Ireland. He was also predeceased by his brothers Teddy and Donie of Ireland and Sister Theresa (Bill) Prout of New York.

Jerry is Mourned by many Brothers-In-Law and Sisters-In-Law Nieces and Nephews Godson Bill (Karen) Prout of Boston MA Sherrie Halpin - Mother of grandchildren Kyle and Marisa friends and Neighbors.

When God was bestowing loquaciousness humor and kindness Jerry was certainly first in line. He had an enviable ability to interact comfortably with people from all walks of life. He also possessed an abundant accumulation of stories and jokes that anyone could relate to their everyday life. Few walked away without a smile after talking to Jerry. Our lives will be less joyful and colorful without him. With our laughter and our tears and guidance from above we have spent these fruitful years my steadfast friends my love so may you always walk in sunshine and Gods love around you flow for the happiness you gave us no one can ever know. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd (A1A) Ormond Beach FL on Wednesday July 24 2013 at 11:00 A.M.

A Mass of Resurrection will also be celebrated at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church Fair Street Cold Spring in October.

Jerry's cremated remains will be buried with his Beloved Daughter Geraldine in Cold Spring Cemetery Cold Spring NY.
