Birkenfeld, Jere Kerr. Age 81, passed on October 17, 2016 of natural causes in Port Orange Florida. Jere was born on December 9, 1934 to Joseph and Rose Kerr in Allentown, PA.

Following graduation from Crosby High School in CT, she attended nursing school, became a registered nurse and then worked as a flight nurse. In the latter part of her nursing career she spent several years working for the American Red Cross. She was also a part-time model, once being featured in Glamour Magazine. A 20-year resident of Hingham, MA, she enjoyed playing tennis and, upon moving to Florida in 1987 she took up the game of golf, which she greatly enjoyed. She was also very skilled at needlepoint, creating many intricate pieces.

She is predeceased by her sisters, Emma Walsh of Watertown, CT and Anne Uttermann of St. Genevieve, MO. She is survived by her three sons, David Birkenfeld of Seattle, WA, Douglas Birkenfeld of Weymouth, MA and Bradley Birkenfeld of Miami, FL, and two grandchildren, Carolyn Birkenfeld and Nina Birkenfeld, both of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her companion of 18 years, Edward Douglas of Port Orange, FL and her former spouse, Ronald Birkenfeld of Canton, MA.

Jere's family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Red Cross.
