It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennings R, "Butch" Butcher on Wednesday May 2 nd .  Butch was born in Phillipi, W. V. To Grover and Dorothy (Daugherty) Butcher in 1938. He moved here with his family in 1946 and graduated from Mainland H.S. class of '56.  After High School, Butch enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he was an Avionics Ordinance Specialist on the U.S.S Intrepid. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, Butch returned to Daytona Beach to start his formal education. During this time, he fell in love and married the love of his life, Peggy.  They then moved to Tallahassee so he could finish his education at FSU. While living in Tallahassee they had a daughter Julie and returned to Daytona Beach after graduation. Butch then started his career as a teacher here in Volusia County. He taught math, science and physical education proudly for 30 years before his retirement. After beginning his career, his two sons, Jennings R Butcher Jr. (Randy) and Stewart Mitchell Butcher (Mitch) were born.

After retirement he was able to concentrate his efforts on spending time with Peggy and also travel around the state and the country playing senior softball.  He made many all-tournament teams and will be greatly missed by his friends in the senior softball community.

Butch was predeceased in this life by his parents, his son Jennings R. Butcher Jr., his wife Peggy, daughter Julie and his grandson, Randolph Wayne Laible.

He is survived by his son, Stewart Mitchell Butcher, granddaughter Cheri Laible, Sisters Patricia Dees and Carol Melville, both of Daytona Beach Shores, and his three Great Grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held for Butch on Saturday May 12 th at 12pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona with a gathering of family and friends beginning one hour prior. You may also share condolences with the family online at: lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
