Jennings "Skip" Beck 89 an honored veteran of World War II and Korea and a very devoted husband father poppa and great-poppa died Saturday; February 25 2012 at Halifax Hospital Daytona Beach FL. He and his late wife Moie called Ormond Beach their home 30 years ago relocating from San Francisco CA. He was a retired Aeronautical Engineer with GE and worked on several space programs. He was a parishioner at Prince of Peace Catholic Church he served his country in the Army/Air Corps the Mighty 8th where he was shot down and was missing in action for four months he escaped and eluded capture. He then served in the US Air Force during Korea. Skip was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of the Escape and Evade Society. He later wrote his memoirs for his family depicting his WW II experiences. He went on to receive his Master's Degree in Aeronautic Engineering from the University of Michigan. He was a member of the VFW the Quarterback Club and loved to exercise at the YMCA. Skip was devoted to his family and was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Moie brothers George and William Beck and his sister Virginia Loch. He is survived by his son David (Carolyn) Beck Ormond Beach a brother Clarence Beck Boardman OH six grandchildren Tim (Nicole) Beck Lisa (Kyle) Mas Doug Beck Dan Beck Katie Beck and Molly Beck Kristy Bower and Rob Zarajczyk as well as seven Great-Grandchildren Justin Cauble Kylie Beck J.D. Mas Abby Mas Alexis Beck Gracie Mas and Jolie Beck. A private celebration of Skip's life will be held.
