Jeannette Marie Baril, at 92 years of age, joined husband Roland in the Lord's House on February 3, 2015. Jeannette was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 10, 1922 and was the daughter of Jerome Gaudet and Caroline Daigle Gaudet. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro, Mass and Lowell Commercial College in 1941.
After graduation, the war years were spent serving in the Signal Corps for the War Dept in Washington D.C. and Boston, Mass. Marriage to Roland Baril was in March of 1943 when she moved to Hartford, Connecticut where Roland was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. She raised her three children in Connecticut and retired in 1977 after seven years working as administrator for the Town of Vernon Municipal Government.
In 1984 Jeannette and Roland settled in Daytona Beach where Seabird Island became home and a peaceful waypoint in her long journey home to God. She belonged to the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was devout to God and all of the saints throughout her life. St Teresa and St Jude were especially kept busy with her prayers and novenas. Jeannette's strong belief in God and the power of prayer gave her much strength and comfort.
The Riviera Senior Living Center became home to Roland and Jeannette in 2006. Here, she cared for Roland until his passing in 2010. Jeannette very much loved life at the Riviera with many friends that she enjoyed playing piano for, exercising with, dining, playing and praying with. Her God given gift of piano music filled the halls and hearts of many at the Riviera. She especially enjoyed visits from her dearest grandson Jesse.
Jeannette is survived by her son Gerald Baril and wife Betty living in Connecticut, her daughter Carolyn Rather and husband Phil Rather, and grandson Jesse Rather living in Ormond Beach, and her son Robert Baril and wife Kathryn living in Sarasota. Jeannette is also survived by her sister Rita Sayball and her brother George Bell (deceased).
There will be a memorial mass at Prince of Peace Church, 600 South Nova Road, Ormond Beach on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. on Jeannette and Roland's 72 wedding anniversary.
Arrangements are under the careful care of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Condolences for the family may be shared through this online guestbook.
