JeanWhitaker 82 Daytona Beach passed away Tuesday September 8 2009. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday September 11 2009 at the Central Baptist Church 142 Fairview Ave. Daytona Beach with interment to immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Jean was born September 2 1927 in Orlando Florida and moved to Daytona beach in December 1940. She graduated from Mainland High School in 1945. In fact her husband James Whitaker and all three of her sons graduated from Mainland. During World War II she was the secretary at the Army Personnel Branch of the Welsh Convalescent Hospital and a volunteer for the U.S. Army Aircraft Warning Service. She was also a bookkeeper bank teller and box office and reservations clerk for the Daytona Beach Symphony Society. She has been a member of the Central Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a loving wife devoted mother great friend and grandmother. She cared for her children her parents her in-laws and all those who resided at 506 Tarragona Way in Daytona Beach. She enjoyed golfing fishing roller skating reading walking sweets jigsaw puzzles and happy hours at her son's home. What an angel she was. Even though she lost her ability to speak and eat she never wavered in her faith her sense of humor and being in charge. We will miss her so very much. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim and daughter Janice Louise and survived by three sons twins James Daytona Beach and Robert Lake Mary Mark and daughter-in law Joyce; grandson Taylor James; and granddaughter Dakota Jean DeLand.
