IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean
Minisce
March 1, 1940 – February 15, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Marie Minisce on February 15, 2025 who succumbed to a hard fought battle with Vascular Dementia.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Leo Minisce & Frances Elman Minisce both of Rochester, NY, her brothers Dr. William Leo Minisce, Jr. of Wakefield, RI & Raymond Eugene Minisce of Caledonia, NY.
She will be sadly missed by her twin sister Joan Minisce of Ormond Beach, FL., cousin Charles Wackerle of Daytona Beach, FL, sisters-in-law Trish Herndon of Ormond Beach, Linda (RI) and Betty (NY) Minisce along with numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, family and friends.
Jean was born on March 1, 1940 in Rochester, NY. At the young age of six, the family moved to Providence, RI where she graduated from St. Mary's Bayview Academy. After graduation, Jean entered the Sisters of Mercy of Cumberland, RI where she obtained her Bachelor's degree and went on to teach elementary school for 12 years.
After leaving the convent, she taught in the Providence school system for 20 years and at the end of her teaching career went back for her Master's degree in Social Work at Boston University. After receiving her degree in 1989, she worked at the Bradley Home in East Providence with children who needed psychological counseling. In the late nineties, she retired and moved to Ormond Beach, FL, where she continued counseling for several years in private practice at home.
In her last years, she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and Mahjong with her friends and pursued oil-on-canvas painting as a hobby. Most of all, she looked forward to long walks and playing fetch with her beloved Yorkie, "Biscuit."
Her immediate family wishes to thank the staff at Riviera Senior Living, Ormond Manor Memory Care and her private caretakers, LaRhonda Hill, Shelyn Lawton and Debbie Willer for all the kindness and caring given to Jean and "Biscuit" over the last four years. We would also like to thank "the angels" at Advent Hospice of Daytona Beach for their caring and concern during a difficult time.
A Memorial Service for Jean will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, 386-673-1100. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Advent Hospice of Daytona Beach.
