Helen Jeanette "Jean" Blais Brachhold Gillett was born in Montreal, Canada and immigrated with her family to the US as a child in 1923 first settling in Palmetto, Florida. The family later moved to Lake Alfred, then to Lake Butler and finally to Daytona Beach in 1930 where she attended St. Paul's Catholic School, Seabreeze High School and graduated from Mainland High School in 1936.

Jean was active in and a lifetime member of the Palmetto Club, and as an ardent gardener, Past President and lifetime member of the Volusia Garden Club and Council of Garden Clubs. She was also a past member of the Halifax River Yacht Club and the Daytona Beach Outboard Club; being active in both as boating and fishing with her family were two of her favorite pastimes.

Jean was married to Francis W. "Brock" Brachhold for almost 40 years until his death in 1980. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Allen L. Gillett; her parents Joseph R. "Pappa Joe" and Marie D. Blais, and two brothers; A. Dollard Blais and Bernard R. Blais.

Jean is survived by her brothers, Dr. Michael R. Blais and Joseph R. Blais Jr, her four children: Andrew Francis Blais (Betty Lou) Brachhold, William Joseph Brachhold, Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Bunzmann and Linda Jean (Larry) Landrum, 8 grand children: Paul, Mark, Donnie, Kelly, Brooke, Abby, Nicolas and Kyle; 4 great grand children: Brianna, Brandon, Liam and Ellery; 2 great-great grand children: Breeze and Vega; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Service for Jean will be held on Friday, April 21st at 1:30pm in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona with a visitation for family and friends beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow service at Daytona Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Jean's name to The American Cancer Society or Halifax Health Hospice.
