Jean E. Deegan, 82, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was born November 25, 1931 to Charles and Florence (Schaffer) Cheney in Harrington Park, New Jersey where she was raised.
She was a homemaker, loved playing her piano, and painting her artwork. She also enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at her home.
Jean and her late husband Donald were longtime residents of Dumont, New Jersey before calling Ormond Beach their home. She is survived by her children, Donn Deegan, Rick Deegan, and Bonnie Deegan, by her brother, Bud Cheney and family, by grandchildren, Kristen Deegan, Jessica Deegan, Richard Deegan and his wife Kristy, Luke Rice, and Jimmy Rice as well as her great-granddaughter, Kaylee Deegan. She is also survived by her daughter in law, Maria Deegan and family, and Lorraine Deegan, as well as other family members and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and by a grandson, Brian Rice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice for their care and compassion in her final days.
