Obituary

Jean Fontaine Califano 89 passed away Monday January 26 2009 unexpectedly at her residence. A Celebration of Life will be held in March at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach Fl. Ms. Califano was born in Indian Orchard MA and in 1989 moved to Daytona Beach from the Washington D.C. She proudly served her county as a Registered Nurse in the Peace Corps and as a liason for the Peace Corp in D.C. well into her later years even when she was a grandmother. She visited people weekly as a volunteer for hospice as well as VA Hospitals in Daytona Beach as well as Ashville NC. She traveled to undeveloped areas in Brazil and Fiji as a Peace Core Volunteer helping children and adults during the malaria epidemic in South America.
She enjoyed playing cards and was a volunteer for 20 years for cancer patients. She was an avid Traveler and enjoyed the many new and exciting cultures she experienced thru her travels. Jean was a member Prince of Peace and St. Brendan Church. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Dr. & Mrs. Edward Edgar of Scottsdale AZ; Two grandchildren; Tom Sullivan of Danburry CT Laura Johnson of Portland CT. Two great grandchildren; Chase Sullivan and Ryan Sullivan of Chappaqua NY. She is preceded in death by her husband Vincent Califano and her two sisters; Lucille Flebotte and Ann Henrichon.
