Jean Henderson Ackerman, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was a native of Miami and was a 1946 graduate of Ponce de Leon High School. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Florida State University, from which she graduated in 1950 with a BS in Business. Upon graduating she worked for Eastern Airlines, which instilled in her a great love of travel that lasted her entire life. She married Jesse Winfield "Win" Ackerman in 1958 and settled in Coral Gables where they raised two sons. Later, she would work for Dade County Public Schools for 19 years. She was a longtime member of Coral Gables First United Methodist Church. She was a very loving and generous mother and wife whose smile and Christian faith shined in everything she did, and she will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her brother Grayson in 1995 and her husband Win in 2004. She is survived by sons Robert (and wife Nelda) of Warrenton, VA and John (and wife Terri) of St. Augustine, FL, and 8 grandchildren. A Visitation will be held from 11am-12pm and a Funeral Service will be held from 12pm-1pm on Monday, March 27, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables. Private entombment at Woodlawn Park North.
