Janet Hawthorne Burnett 92 of Palm Coast FL passed peacefully at home on September 12 2012. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Friday September 21st at 6:00 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Ormond; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Janet was born on December 17 1919 in New York New York to Harry and Nettie (Geist) Ratzenberg. She was a retired Registered Nurse receiving her degree from Bellevue Hospital New York. Janet was also a member of the Rockettes in her earlier years and was co-author along with her granddaughter Kendall of "Friends Are Like Shoes" published in 2008. She enjoyed traveling and playing golf. She will be lovingly remembered as being a very passionate person in all aspects of life. Janet is survived by her children Dr. Ken (Jamie) Hawthorne Jr. Ormond Beach Maureen (George) Hermalik Sierra Vista AZ Robert Oberland Portland OR Daryle Ann (Aldo) Dinal New York Linda Kappadahl Atlanta Ga. Michael (Kimberly) Hawthorne Arlington VA and Ethyl Brown Salt Lake City UT by her siblings Irving Ratzenberg Lila Pickus and Rosilin Grippi by twenty-one grandchildren and several great-grandchildren as well as her companion and caregiver Martha. Janet was preceded in death by her first husband of 56 years Kenneth Hawthorne Sr. and by her late husband of 10 years Sam Burnett.
