Jane Lee Wright St. John, age 78, died Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Hospice in Edgewater, Florida.
Born in New Smyrna Beach, and a 4th generation of a long line of Southeast Volusia pioneers, Jane Lee was a New Smyrna Beach High School graduate in the class of 1955, and a graduate of Jones Business School in Orlando, Florida. She worked for a bank in Miami for a while before returning to New Smyrna Beach and working for the Bank of New Smyrna. She later retired from Daytona Beach Community College (now Daytona State College).
She is predeceased by her father, Phillip L. Wright, Jr. and mother Helen Fuller Wright. She was married May 13, 1957 to another local, Charles Luther "Preacher" St. John, who also predeceased her by a little over 2 months, passing away on October 25, 2015. As another long-time resident of Edgewater, "Preacher" was in business with his father and uncle in the Oatman-St. John cabinet building company. Jane Lee is survived by her sister, RuthAnna Pleterski, and niece, Kimberly Miller and family, as well as her neighbor, friend, and caretaker, Jan Bennett.
With no formal service planned, a celebration of life for both Jane Lee and "Preacher" will be held at a later date. In memory of these two, donations may be made to Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 South Glencoe Rd., New Smyrna Beach, Florida, 32168.
