Maria Juana Murilo Restovic better known as Jane Restovic was married to John Restovic who preceded her in death on April 23, 2002 Jane was born in La Paz, Bolivia, daughter of Isauro Murillo and Flora Murillo de la Rocha, on June 24, 1925; she was the sister of Javier, Mario and Pablo who preceded her in death; she has many nephews and nieces to numerous to mention; her father pass away when she was very young and her mother lived on well into her eighties. She went to the finishing school "College des Sacres Coeurs" of La Paz (Sacred Heart College of La Paz) where she excel in languages and music, learning French and English to supplement her native Spanish; She grew up next to the US Embassy in La Paz and began working there as an executive secretary and translator shortly after the World War II; She had her first son Mirko Isauro on June 2, 1952 followed by the birth of her second son Randolph August 28, 1956; She enrolled her children in La Salle academy which catered to the American personnel at the embassy; she was determined to get her sons an "American education" She earned and saved enough money to put her career on a backburner and decided to try to make a new future for her husband and two children in America. She took a leave of absence from the embassy, flew to Miami, took a Greyhound bus to NYC, stayed at the YWCA and began searching for a job to build a foundation for her family for the future. In the meantime her Husband and my grandmothers cared for me and my brother at our formative ages of 4 and 8; they hadn't invented woman's lib in the USA but it was fully mobilized in Bolivia. She found a job working as a nanny where she nurtured her second family, Mark and Laura Ollinger, while she earned and saved enough money to send for her family and provide a place of residence, renting and furnishing a Campus Hall apartment in Flushing New York; she found a position for my father; working as a jeweler with the Louis Feron, Inc. from which he retired from shortly before his death. She had enough time to nurture and house during their formative teen years, Mary Valliano and Pedro Perez, as teens they both found shelter in our home before going on to their respective careers; the former joining the army and making a career for herself in Germany and the Latter again after joining the Army settling in New Jersey She got a job with the Buckler Inc 225 Fifth Avenue in NY, NY as the head administrative person working in all facets of the business in administration till her retirement from in 1990. Her coworkers have preceded her in death; Her main motivation was to get her children a good education in NYC; the first month after our arrival in October, 1960 she had registered me in the local public school PS 165; she gets called in to the principal office and asked what religion are we, because her son has been taking all the religious holidays off; well this was on advice from my friend Jerry Schwartz to take Rosh Hashanah off; Consequently, my brother and I were enrolled in St Nicholas of Tolentine parochial school and I had the privilege to be educated by the Christian brothers and order of La Salle at Bishop Edmund J Reilly and Manhattan College. She continued her tie to the church when she saved enough money to buy a house in Bayside in the Sacred Heart parish where both Randolph and I went to school; Randy went to Marie Curie before going to Bayside High School. During this time she found time to nurture and house my cousin Mario Thenier and the Pacheco Brothers Charley and Paco All in all she loved her house in Bayside; just as she loved her 1956 Mercury Monterey her first car; she learned to drive by herself and maintained the car for many years until a gypsy finally brought it from her in 1969; She then bought her pride and joy 1969 Dodge Dart which she let me Christen by taking its maiden voyage to Woodstock. My father had the longest open drivers permit from 1960 till he passed in 2002 while my mother took him here there and everywhere.
She had bought a house in Ocala Florida when Jim Dooley would come on the TV in the sixties and encourage all NY to move to Florida which they did. She had intend to retire there with my Father, until he crossed her up and decided to leave our world in 2002; so the hunt began for her place in Daytona;
After several years of trying to buy a house and dealing with her realtor Bundy, she finally was persuaded to move to her house in Ormond Beach; which she loved; she bought a 3 bd, 3bth ranch house with a pool; she moved down with Randy and swam in the pool till nearly her death; not before taking in another lost soul in the Bayside house while she moved and enjoy the sun now as I live in the Virgin Islands she rarely visited with my brother or father because of the dogs; well one year all her dogs died (Augie doggie and Rusty) Randy and Mom came to St. Croix the Virgin Islands which she loved; on completion of the the trip I noted they should be dog free so they can come and enjoy the islands with no time limits.
As soon as they got home they went and got the toughest (Mikey) and the sickest (Augie doggie 2); she tamed one and rejuvenated the health of the other. So they moved to Ormond Beach and brought the canines. She brought Her dogs from Bayside to florida; Augie Doggie 2 , Mikey and Buffy a discarded dog my brother picked up from a friend. My mother was a dreamer, a renaissance woman, a feminist in the best sense of the word as she actually didn't let the smoke or the nuances deter her for claiming her right and actuating her plan; But what was most important for her and from her was her compassion not only for her family but for strangers and animals; her music and her poetry and the sweetness she extracted from others; her life was a tapestry called dulce So in closure the frogs and the dogs of this world will miss her but not as much as her sons will MIRKO and Randolph
