Obituary

Jane Eleanor Dodson, 95, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully October 6, 2014. A family service will be held in Florida on October 18, 2014. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 1pm to 4pm at Eagles Landing Golf Course, 4200 Bong Ave., Belton, MO 64012.

Jane was born October 11, 1918 in Amherst, MA to William and Lyda Ruth (nee Stoddard) Turner. In 1936, she graduated from Belton High School, Belton, MO. Jane continued her education, graduating from Park College, Parkville, MO in 1940. On December 11, 1941, she married Albert LeRoy Dodson, a Naval pilot in WWII. Together, they raised their three sons.

Jane was very active in her community of Foxwood Springs, Raymore, MO. She is a former Board member of Foxwood Springs. She led the Parkinson's Support Group for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Park College Alumni Association, and Westport Historical Society. Jane was a founding member of Belton Historical Society in Belton, MO. Jane was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and was active with the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association. She occasionally gave talks and television interviews about December 7th, 1941.

Jane's interests were at home and abroad. She loved travelling, and traveled the world. She was an avid gardener and she was a long time member of the Midwest Computer Genealogists Organization. However, her true passion was her family.

Jane will be sadly missed by her sons: James LeRoy Dodson (wife JoAnn) of Lancaster, CA, William Berry Dodson (wife Jane) of Ormond Beach, FL, and Joseph Gary Dodson (wife Denise) of La Crescent, MN; by her nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Jane was predeceased by her husband Albert.

She will be laid to rest at his side in Belton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond in Florida and McGilley and George Funeral Home in Missouri.
