Jane M. Citek 89 passed away quietly May 24 2011 after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 28th at 2pm at Central Baptist Church 142 Fairview Ave Daytona Beach FL.
She was the beloved first grade teacher of hundreds of children in the Port Orange area first at Port Orange Elementary and later at Spruce Creek Elementary. She retired in 1983. In her retirement Jane continued her commitment to children by volunteering in the children's ministry at Central Baptist Church. She was active in the senior adult ministry as a member of the CBS'ers and Jubilees. She and her husband Frank took delight in writing and performing skits with the Jubilees.
She was born in Ashburn Georgia. She was a graduate of both North Georgia College and Georgia Southern University. Jane and Frank moved to Daytona Beach shortly after their marriage in 1945 and were married for almost 60 years.
Before her illness Jane was an active member of TOPS FL266 South Daytona and the Abigail Bartholomew Chapter D.A.R. She was also on the board of Living Waters.
She is survived by her daughters Penny (Charles) McMillen Woodstock GA; Paula (Glen) Opheim Winchester VA; 4 grandchildren Drew and Katie McMillen and Amber and Max Opheim.
Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband Frank in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn GA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the children's ministry at Central Baptist Church of Daytona Beach.
