James M
Witt
Sep 29, 1939 — Dec 31, 2020
Ormond Beach
James M Witt
Jim graduated from International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a BSC degree in accounting, after which he enlisted in the Air Force. After tech school in Mississippi, he served in England, Turkey, and SAC Headquarters at Omaha, Nebraska. While serving in England, Jim earned a letter of favorable communication for the recovery of a very significant item of intelligence.
After serving in the Air Force, Jim began working as a supervisor in reinsurance for Lincoln Financial in Fort Wayne, where he eventually worked his way into computer programming, and later became a programmer analyst. While working at Lincoln, he also attained his FLMI (Fellow Life Management Institute) designation.
Florida beckons: In 1983, Jim accepted a position as programmer analyst at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Jacksonville, and Jim and his family (Nell and AJ) moved happily to Florida. After that, came a position as senior analyst at Gulf Life, where Jim also obtained his CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) certification, and was very happy at Gulf Life until it was acquired by American General Life Insurance Company and merged into their Nashville acquisitions. Then, he went to work in quality control at Merrill Lynch Life Insurance Company, Jacksonville, from which he retired as Consultant and Assistant Vice President in 2001.
In 2002, Jim and Nell acquired an ocean view condo in Ormond Beach, and when Nell retired in 2006, they moved to the Ormond Beach condo, where they awoke to the sunrise over the ocean and enjoyed the salt life! After moving to Ormond Beach, Jim enjoyed becoming self-directed in his stock market holdings and solving evil level Sodukos. He also occasionally enjoyed sloshing down a few local craft ales with friends at one of the many waterfront watering holes in the Daytona Beach area.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nell, and one son, AJ, in Orlando.
