James C. Setter 75 a long-time resident of the Volusia County area passed away on January 4 2010. He was born and raised in the Detroit Michigan area and was a graduate of Redford High School. After high school he opened his own insurance company and managed the family business Setter Finance. He later earned his living as a credit manager for Cunningham Oil for 22 years prior to retiring. In the late 70's he reunited with his high school sweetheart Doris Royal who were together for over 30 years. Jim's passion was assisting those who struggled with mental health issues and was an integral part of the "AA" community helping those who were dependant on alcohol and drugs. In addition he was a proud board member of Stewart Marchman Act Behavioral Health for over 20 years. When he was asked what his hobbies were he always said "socializing"; he never met a stranger! He will best be remembered for his giving nature his sense of responsibility for others and his dazzling smile. He will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Left to cherish his memory is his sister Nancy Scherr of Madison WI his stepson Norman Royal relatives in Michigan and many good friends. He was predeceased by his wife Doris. A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 17th at 3:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Society 56 N. Halifax Drive Ormond Beach FL 32176.
