James Jim N. Ricks Sr. 83 of Ormond Beach FL passed away at his home on Sunday April 23 2006 with his close companion Audra at his bedside. Funeral Services will be Thursday April 27th at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach with Pastor Annette Pendergrass officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Grace Lutheran Garden of the Resurrection Mausoleum. His family will receive friends on Wednesday April 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Jim was born on April 24 1922 in Vidalia GA. He attended Mercer College before serving in the US Navy during WWII. Jim?s career lead him to be a pioneer in the field of television syndication sales. He enjoyed the exciting world of entertainment for 35 years and worked for both Columbia Pictures and Paramount productions. In 1991 his son Jim convinced him to come out of retirement for one final year to work with him in the field they both loved before they both retired. Jim was a successful business man a loyal mason and a good friend to many. But above all Jim was a true gentleman. In 1967 he moved his family to the Daytona Beach area from Griffin GA. It was here in Ormond Beach that he became a member of Oceanside Country Club and was able to pursue his love of golf and his avid card playing with his buddies from the Club. Jim will live on forever in the hearts of his friends and his family which include his son Jim Ricks Jr. of Ormond Beach his longtime companion Audra Hurst his grandson James N. III Jamie and wife Tami of Ft. Myers FL his great-grandson Parker and his two sisters Jewel Thomas and Bobbie Mapel both of Brunswick GA. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy his daughter Sherry Ricks Krober and his granddaughter Shelley Stokes.
