A Funeral Service for James E. Ragan age 94 of Olen Drive Holly Hill FL will be held on Monday July 17 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. The Reverend Bob Moorehead will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10:00 AM before the service. Mr. Ragan passed away on Thursday July 13 2006 at the Oak Tree Nursing Home in S. Daytona FL. He was born on September 22 1911 in Eau Gallie FL. to James and Maggie Lancaster Ragan. He married Marguerite Mixon and shared 47 devoted years with her until her passing in 1983. James worked for the Florida Power and Light Company until he retired in 1976. He loved to fish both on the river and in the surf. He was also an amateur boxer who although was a smaller man could hold his own in the ring. For years he was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. James is survived by 2 sons James Vivian Ragan Jr. of Waverly GA; their 3 children James E. III Renee with their 2 children of Millwood GA and Gary and Chad Ragan of Brunswick GA.; & Ronald Kathie Ragan of Port Orange FL and their 3 children; Ronald C. DR. Amie Ragan Jr. of Birmingham AL Jennifer Mike Tharp and their 3 children of Marietta Ga and Melissa Loeffler of Raleigh NC.
