Funeral Services for James L. Mahler age 80 of Ormond Beach who died Friday January 27 2006 at home following a long illness will be Wednesday February 1 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church. His family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 31 2006 in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Mr. Mahler was a WWII Veteran of the Merchant Marines where he participated in the invasion of Normandy. He received a letter of heroism from President Truman and President Bush. He graduated from South East Missouri University with a degree in Engineering. He worked for St. Joseph Lead Co. Bonne Terre Missouri Monsanto Chemical Co. St. Louis Missouri and taught High School at North and West County High Schools in Missouri. After moving to Florida he taught at Palm Coast High School. Mr. Mahler was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church. He loved to fish and hunt. He was predeceased by his son Joseph. He is survived his loving wife of 56 years Lillian a daughter Mary of Tucson AZ 4 brothers James A. of Ormond Beach Howard of Phoenix AZ Bill of Ormond Beach and George of Hobart WA and a grandson Brandon of Bonne Terre MO.
