James W. Kirtley Sr. 82 of Port Orange entered into eternal life at 5 a.m. Monday August 11 2008 at Halifax Medical Center in Port Orange.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Port Orange United Church of Christ in Port Orange.
James was born on July 16 1926 in Washington DC. The son of Carvel and Eleanor (Beane) Kirtley. He was united in marriage to Sophie Zielezienski on October 12 1985. James served his country for four years in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the Port Orange United Church of Christ in Port Orange and the VFW in Daytona Beach. James enjoyed fishing playing golf playing cards with his family and friends and he had love for trains.
Survivors include his loving wife Sophie of Port Orange; son: James W. Kirtley Jr. of Port Orange; daughter: Kathlyn (husband Thomas) Kavala of Daytona Beach; brothers: Richard Kirtley of Naples Lynn (wife Anne) Kirtley of Chapin SC. sisters: Norma (husband Jerry) Rea of New Smyrna Beach Janet Smith of Midlothian VA.; sister-inlaw: Joanne Gucciardo of Port Orange. . He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Alan Kirtley.
