Kelley James Edwin - James Kelley 85 Ormond Beach passed away December 18 2008 at Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange Care Center. Mr. Kelley was born in Hopkins Minnesota in 1922 and was a lifelong resident of Minneapolis Minnesota. He recently moved to Florida to be close to family. He is survived by his wife Adelaide of 59 years; son John Kelley (Jane) of Dallas and grandchildren Kristina Kelley of Charlotte and Thomas Kelley of Houston; daughter Susan Lang (Dan) of Ormond Beach and grandchildren Kelley Lang of Boston and Katie Lang of New York; son Richard Kelley (Connie) of Wichita. Mr. Kelley served in World War II as a navy pilot. After naval service he attended the University of Minnesota and received a BA degree in Journalism in 1948. Mr. Kelley had a long career in the newspaper business as an editor reporter and feature writer. In addition he spent many years in the printing business. He was a sports historian and avid golfer and wrote two books on the history of men's and women's golf for the Minnesota Golf Association. During his many visits to Ormond Beach he compiled an extensive history on the South Atlantic Amateur Championship (SALLY) tournament held annually at Oceanside Country Club. Upon his retirement in 1990 he continued to pursue these endeavors that he loved during his life. The family wishes to thank the talented and caring staff of both the Halifax Health Medical Center Emergency Department and the 7th Floor. In addition the family greatly appreciates the heartfelt support from the gracious staff and volunteers at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia and Flagler County.
