Obituary

James D. Dunlop, 87, of Ormond Beach, FL died peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at home with his wife of 40 years, Gana Dunlop sitting by his side. Jim was born in Indianapolis, IN on September 25, 1929.
He is survived by his wife, Gana, three children Timothy Dunlop, Pamela Dunlop Boyce, Janet Dunlop and her husband Robert Olson.
Jim has four grandchildren, Danielle Resto (Anthony), David Boyce (Katie), Michaela Boyce and Brianna Dunlop with a great grandson, Kai Resto, due to arrive any day now.
Jim received his Civil Engineering Degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terra Haute, IN) in 1952 and went on to earn his Master's Degree in Physics from Perdue University. After college Jim served in Army during the end of the Korean War. Jim worked for Communications Satellite Corporation (COMSAT). He developed the nickel-hydrogen battery that is still flying in satellites, the space telescope and on the space station. His prototype battery is in the Smithsonian.
Jim enjoyed drinking fine wines, skiing, and playing golf with friends. He was a Life Master in duplicate bridge. He will be missed by family and friends.
