James B. Eckersen 90 of Port Orange passed away February 5 2012. James was born and raised in the Daytona area. James proudly served his country in WWII in the Navy achieving the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer. He worked as a machinist mate on the USS Bowditch. After military service James worked for Hamilton Standard making propellers. He later opened his own appliance repair business. He and his wife Barbara moved to West Palm Beach. There James was an active 32 degree Mason. James was know for being an animal lover. He also entertained his family as a great ""Teller of Tall Tales"". James was predeceased by his wife of 39 years Barbara his two children James Jr. and Mary Anne and his siblings: David Malcolm Nathaniel ""Babe"" Mary Lindstrom and Walter. He is survived by his two brothers Frederick (wife Shirley) of Minnesota and Roy of California. He will be sadly missed by his loving niece Susan (husband Bill) Grieff of Port Orange and many other nieces and nephews. Committal service will be held at a later date in West Palm Beach at Royal Palm Memorial Park.
