Obituary

James L. Clowes, 75, of Port Orange passed away on his Mother's Birthday, March 10, 2016 at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. He was born on July 3, 1940 in Koppel PA, the son of the late Francis and Margaret Larkin Clowes. Jim, graduated from Rochester High School in PA, and moved to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 20. He became a Longshoreman and worked at Ports all over New York and New Jersey. In 1986, he moved his family from New York to Port Orange Florida.

Jim loved Port Orange and became very involved with youth sports, coaching his son's Jimmy and Richard in multiple sports. He was an active member of The Catholic Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange. Jim loved to sing and was known by his family as "Jimmy Star". He was an avid fan of Notre Dame and New York Giants Football Teams. Most days you could find him having coffee at one of the local fast food establishments or trying his luck at the dog track. At one time he was married to Mary Landon Clowes and remained close friends to the end.

He is survived by a daughter Christine of Sayreville, New Jersey and sons Jimmy (Jenn) of Port Orange and Richard (Kelly) of Orlando; sisters Rose Nye of Beaver Falls, PA., and Judy Clowes of Inkster Michigan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved his grandson "Little Jimmy" with all his heart. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers: Frankie, Jerry, Bobby, David and Richard, and one sister Gina.

A visitation will be Tuesday March 15, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday March 16 at 10:00 AM from The Catholic Church of the Epiphany 201 Lafayette St. Port Orange, with Father John Bosco Maison, Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
