Obituary

James Stewart Boettner Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in South Daytona, Florida.

Born on April 18, 1939, James graduated from Mainland High School in 1957 and went on to attend Southwestern Bible College in Texas. His life was marked by deep faith and service. He served as a pastor with the Assembly of God and traveled as an evangelist with The Pathfinders, sharing his devotion and message with many. He also worked as a carpenter for the City of Daytona Beach until his retirement.

James also proudly served his country in both the Navy Reserve and the Coast Guard Reserves before retiring from military service. His commitment to faith and community remained central throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Christine Gilmore Boettner, and his parents, James Wesley Boettner and Emma Katherine Stewart Boettner.

James is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Hazel Anne; his sons James S. Jr. (Jane) and John (Kim); and four beloved grandchildren: Cody, Evan, Emily, and Todd.

In addition to his professional and spiritual pursuits, James found joy in fishing, attending Native American PowWows, and most importantly, spreading God's love wherever he went.

A visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach, FL on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Shady Rest Cemetery. A reception will follow at Steve's Famous Diner by RSVP only.
