Obituary

James Arthur Ballentine
June 17, 1933 – May 14, 2023

James Arthur Ballentine, 89, of South Daytona, Florida, formerly of Chestertown, Maryland and New Jersey, passed away peacefully,

surrounded by his loving Family, at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Ormond Beach, Florida. Jim was a very loving and

dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather.

Jim was born on June 17,1933 to the late Lawrence Ballentine and Florence ( Kahle ) Neumayer in Newark, New Jersey.

Upon graduation from high school, he joined the New Jersey National Guard and then proudly served in the

United States Army. While stationed at Fort Hood, he met the love of his life, Reba Nell Copeland, whom he married

on May 12, 1955. They were married 68 years.

After working in the Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning business for 10 years, Jim took a risk and opened his

own wholesale HVAC business in Toms River, NJ. He was very successful, expanding to three

stores, and was then  able to retire at the age of 54. Jim was committed to his marriage and his family. He did everything he

could to make sure his Son, Daughter and Granddaughter knew he loved them.

Jim was an avid fisherman and built his first ocean worthy boat, aptly named Reba.

He and Reba were also filled with wanderlust and started RV'ing in the 70's. At first, it was weekend trips

then after retirement they spent months on the road, traveling to every state except, Hawaii. He sold his last

motorhome when he was 85 years old.

They were snowbirds for 30 years, spending the summers in the house he built on the

Chester River in Maryland and the winters in Naples and then Port Orange until they relocated full time to South Daytona,

Florida five years ago. When he wasn't traveling, he made stained glass, from sun catchers to windows.

His greatest pleasure was making and giving away the pieces he made to friends and family

so if you have one, you truly have a special piece of him.

Jim is survived by his Wife, Reba Ballentine; Daughter, Deb Ballentine; Son, Jim ( Linda ) Ballentine; Granddaughter, Crystal ( Dean ) Bazzle

and his Siblings, Carol Powers, Marla Ballentine, Lisa Ballentine and Gordon Ballentine.
