Jake J. Van Dyk age 79 of Port Orange FL slipped away into the arms of Jesus November 9 2009 and is now celebrating in His presence. Jake is survived by his wife of 55 years Cornelia; daughters Corry (Doug) Alexander and Edith (Bruce) Rosema; and his cherished granddaughters Rachel and Bethany Alexander. Jake's journey began in Amsterdam The Netherlands August 27 1930 with a family of five brothers and one sister. He was immensely proud to become an American citizen in 1972. His fulfilled life enriched by faith family and friends spanned his years in Michigan and the last 25 years in Florida. Jake had a genuine love and commitment for his new country wholeheartedly serving many years as a Precinct Clerk for Volusia County Elections. He also assisted the Port Orange community as a dedicated YMCA Ambassador. Jake's spirit to enjoy life was evident in that ""no one was a stranger resulting in a vast array of friendships across the country. His assurance in the Lord was manifested through Psalm 91:1-2. The family expresses their gratitude to the Sterling House for their loving care and respectful treatment during his last four weeks.
