Jackie Louise Lewis (née Griffey) passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30 ^th , 2021 in Deland Florida. She was 81. Born April 3 ^rd , 1940 on the Thomas Monroe Mounts Farm in Cedar, in the Tug River Valley, Pike County Kentucky.  She was the oldest of Sherman and Audrey Griffey's four children.

At a young age, Jackie's family moved to a house in Freeburn Kentucky, where her father Sherman worked at the Emperor Coal Company, and her mother Audrey raised her wonderful children. In 1958, the family moved from Kentucky to Miami Florida, where she met her first husband, Zachary P. Prusak, who she then married in 1959. Jackie and Zach's only son, Zachary, was then born in 1963. Jackie and her family then moved to Ormond Beach Florida, where she spent the rest of her remaining years.

Devoted to her family and to assisting others, Jackie volunteered as a substitute teacher at St. Paul's School in Daytona Beach in the early 1970's, then was a social worker for the Association for Retarded Citizens. Earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida, she continued as a social worker for many years, devoting her time to helping others while caring for her mother in her later years. She always supported her son's many interests, never once turning down any snake, insect or other animal he would bring into the house as a youngster, and her grandchildren fondly remember the many Easter Egg hunts she was a part of.

A passionate storyteller and collector of family pictures, Jackie spent years recording oral histories from her mother, compiling these pictures and stories into a large family tree book, copies of which were sent to her relatives. It was in these pages that we can still remember her and hear again the stories that she told us of the Hatfields and McCoys, and life on the farm.

She was predeceased in death by her loving mother and father, and brothers James Thomas Griffey Sr., and Sherman Randall Griffey.

Jackie is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Griffith of Ormond Beach, son, Zachary Prusak (Jamie) of Orlando, two grandsons Zachary and Joshua of Orlando, as well as nieces Carrie Vanderspool, Noelle Wyenandt, Kristina Jackson, Liza Gonzalez, Karen Griffey, and nephews Stephen Benn, Max Foizey, John Anthony Griffey, Tom Griffey, many grandnieces and grandnephews, and several cousins in many states.

A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Orlando, and in accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in Kentucky, where she was born.
