Jack H. Mosman 78 of Ormond Beach passed away March 22 2009 at Florida Hospital Ormond. Born on April 25 1930 to Joseph and Lovina Mosman he played piano in a small jazz band and had been a parachuting fire-fighter ("Smoke Jumper") in his native Idaho. He spent 33 years in the US Navy and achieved the rank of Captain. He served on board several US Navy ships amphibs and destroyers sometimes as commanding officer. He was stationed in Saigon and along the Mekong Delta in 1969 and 1970 during the Vietnam War. Awards attained included the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star. Later he served in the Military Command Center located in the Pentagon and as Ordinance Officer on the Staff of Commander Naval Logistics Pacific in Pearl Harbor. Following retirement Jack obtained his Masters Degree in Business at Chaminade University in Honolulu Hawaii. He and his family moved to Ormond Beach from Hawaii in 1990. Jack was preceded in death by his sister Juanita Downs. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Patricia and their son Kenneth.
