Obituary

Jack Lockhart born in Parker Kansas in 1920 and Passed away March 11 2012 in Daytona Beach Shores FL. Jack was one of the youngest Chief Petty Officers in WWII. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1939-1959. Jack was deployed to Honolulu in May of 1940. Jack was the last survivor of the U.S. Lexington when it sank in the battle of the Coral Sea in May of 1942 Carrier Number CV2. Served 2 years in the Army Air Force one year in the first Battalion Seabees New Caledonia where he attended under seas weapons school. He was assigned with the Seabees for one year on the island of Tongatabu. Jack served 4 years with the Marines in criminal Investigations during the Korean War. Jack was assigned to the Navy B-29th Bombers as an instructor in the Navy Bombers and Fuses dropping torpedoes in the ocean in 1950 and served in the Louisiana Army Maneuvers. Jack received many military commendation metals for his service to his country. He retired from the Navy as an Ordinance instructor. After his military retirement he worked 13 years for the Department of Transportation in Florida. Jack had been a member of the Halifax Yacht Club since 1967 life member of the Masonic Blue Lodge Bahia Shrine and Scottish Rite. He was charter member of the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club of Daytona Beach. Jack was a former member of the Fleet Reserve Business and Veterans Club Metropolitan Bridge Club and Ormond Moose Club. He is survived by his loving wife of seven years Duane Gentil sister in laws: Theo Edwards and Mary Flanders of Daytona Beach. Jack enjoyed a full life and many friends. At Jacks request there will be no services. Memorial donations are to be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
