John "Doyle" Tumbleson, 69, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away on May 16, 2014 at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Port Orange. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 336 S. Halifax Dr. Ormond Beach on Wednesday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Doyle was born April 28, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to Robert and Annie Clare (Kimball) Tumbleson. Doyle graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1970 with a Juris Doctorate degree and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1970. He went on to a very successful law career with the law firm of Kinsey Vincent Pyle for over forty years and for the past 20 years he was Co-Managing Member of the Firm. He was admitted to several state and federal courts including the United States Supreme Court. He served on several committees of the Florida Bar including serving as Chairman of the Grievance Committee for the Seventh Judicial Circuit and President of the Volusia County Bar Association from 1985-1986.
He was an avid Gator fan, as well as an avid NASCAR fan. Doyle was a member of the Advisory Board for First National Bank, Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council, Representative of Volusia County Business Development Corporation on Volusia Growth Management Commission, Member and Vice-Chairman of Volusia County Manager Selection Committee, Member of the Executive Council, Volusia County Association for Responsible Development, Member of Civic League of the Halifax Area, served from 1982-1994 on Executive Board of Trustees of Ormond Memorial Hospital, Memorial Health Systems including Chairman from 1990-1992. He enjoyed golf, traveling, and most of all he cherished the time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Ann Tumbleson, Ormond Beach, his son, John (Karen) Tumbleson, Gainesville, FL, and his daughter, Teri (David) Mims of Jacksonville, FL, by two brothers, Jim (Karen) Tumbleson, Houston, TX, and Tom Tumbleson, Gainesville, FL, as well as two sisters, Anne Mertz, N. Carolina and Jayne (Bobby) Timmons, Ormond Beach, and four grandchildren, Caleb, Trey, Brooke, and Hadley. Memorial contributions may be made in Doyle's memory to the Halifax Hospice of Volusia/Flagler at 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange, FL 32129.
