J Eddy Thomas of Daytona Beach passed away on March 21, 2025. He was born in Marion, Ohio on December 4, 1936 to Carl Raymond and Ortola Eddy Thomas. J was a retired resort developer and operator in Ohio and Florida, as well as being a RV dealer and Financier. J was involved in all aspects of the RV industry. He served on Governor Rhodes Advisory Commission on the Mobile Home & Recreational Vehicles Industry in Ohio and was past president of several related organizations.
J was a loyal and dedicated friend to all who knew him. He loved to make people laugh! He was a terrific dancer and loved music. His passions included years of boating, RVing and motorcycling. J was a Charter member of the United States Power Squadron, Marion Ohio Chapter. He traveled many places around the world and received many awards for his motorcycle journeys. One of his fondest memories was his round-trip adventure on one of his motorcycles from Daytona Beach to Fairbanks, Alaska. J was an avid Ohio State fan and supporter! Above all, he did it "His Way"!! He always said "it's a small world and the joy is in the journey".
J is survived by his wife of almost 24 years Barbara (Stout) Thomas of Daytona Beach, his son Carl "Huck" Thomas, daughter-in-law Marjean "Midge" Thomas of Astor, Florida, 3 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, 3 great grandsons, 2 step daughters Stacy (Rick) Martin and Shannon (Wade) Childress and their families. He is also survived by 2 sisters Carla Hussey and Pam Thomas in Michigan. J was preceded in death by his parents, son Monte J Thomas, daughter Melanie Jaye Maison, sisters Carma Jean Golden and Sarah Thomas, and brother Dr. Myron Earl Thomas.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Lohman Funeral Home, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00AM. Funeral service will be at 11:00AM with a reception to follow.
Burial will be in Radnor Cemetery, Radnor, Ohio. Graveside arrangements will be handled by Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, Delaware, Ohio.
