J. Philip Morgan, 87, of Daytona Beach, passed into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He was born in Lockport, N.Y. the son of James P. Morgan and Caroline MacDonald Morgan. After graduating from Lockport H.S., his desire to serve the Lord led him to Nyack Missionary Institute in Nyack, N.Y. from where he graduated in 1950 and also met his future wife, June Snyder. He and June married in 1949 and remained happily married for 66 years. He served as pastor on Block Island, R.I. until 1954 when he and June made the move to Florida. Here, Philip would serve as pastor of Silver Beach Baptist Church and South Peninsula Baptist in Daytona Beach while earning his Bachelor's Degree in Religion from Stetson University. In 1962 he joined with Christians meeting in the name of the Lord at New Smyrna Bible Chapel, where he was fully commended to full time ministry. During this time, he also served with the Volusia County School Board as a bus driver/instructor and as a Driver Instructor in both Dade and Flagler Counties. Following 1985 much of his ministry was devoted to Bible and Family Conferences across the U.S., Canada, and Bahamas. His keen love of teaching Bible Truths and the Gospel, along with his unique style of presentation and lively sense of humor, gained him audience with people of all ages. Philip was predeceased by his parents, his sisters-in-law, Liz Morgan of Port Orange, and Barbara (Tom) Slocum of Pa., and his brothers-in-law Charles (Belle) Snyder and Douglas (Ginny) Snyder also of Pa. He is survived by his beloved wife, June, his brother David of Port Orange, nieces Nancy Morgan of Nashville, TN., Susan Morgan, of Cosa Mesa, CA., and Diane (Richard) Nelson of Knoxville, PA., and nephews Dane (Audrey) Snyder of Florida, and Gary (Rosalyn) Slocum of PA., and many great nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona on Monday February 1 at 11a.m. with visitation beginning one hour prior.
