Ivilla Neeley Toomer, born January 12,1931 lived for 92 years before she departed on December 14, 2023. She was born in National Gardens, FL to the late Reverend Zephaniah and late Reverend Irene Neeley. She received her LPN license in 1954. She worked at Halifax Hospital for 35 years before retiring. On a day to day basis, she liked to keep herself up with her makeup, lashes, and stayed in heels until age 85. She loved to watch as well as ride motorcycles, watching her stories(The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful), doing crossword puzzles, eating seafood, and of course indulging in her favorite beverage. As a lifelong member of Mount Zion AME Church, she was a part of the usher board, LAY organization, Woman's Missionary Society, nurses guild, and a dedicated attendee of Bible Discovery Hour. She was also a life member of Mary's Chapter 187, Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a faithful member for 74 years. She started out as a Sunbeam, joining Mary's when she was 18 years old. She was married to the late James Lloyd Howard Sr. and later married to the late Gene Audry Toomer. She was the mother of seven; the late James Lloyd Howard Jr. (Joyce), the late Michael Vincent Howard Sr. (and the late Sandra), Larry Raynard Howard (Lille Mae), Gail Howard Owens (Hoover), Glenn Clayton Howard, Stanley Tyrone Howard (Sherry), and Brenda Joyce Weathers. She has 21 grandchildren and a wealth of great grands and great great grands. She leaves behind one cousin, Moses Neeley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish her memory.
A Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday December 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday December 23, 2023 at Mt. Zion AME Church, 449 S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Interment will follow in Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.
