Isabel Mary Cooper AKA Ronnie Cooper
Born in the Keenan household in Maspeth L.I. NY to Edyth and William Keenan. The delivery was assisted by a midwife who was adept at delivering babies, but not the greatest at spelling names so no Isabelle just Isabel. The date was March 11th 1928.
She had two younger sisters, and life during the 1930's was far from easy. Her mother had contracted Polio as a child, and her father died in 1942. Money was very scarce.
She got a job in the very grand Garden City Hotel as a waitress, and her bus boy stepped in to help her out. The rest is history they were married seven months later. It lasted 68 years.
She was a housewife, when the wives stayed home. The mother of two fine sons, watched over the purse strings, and ran the household. Later as an empty nester she worked as an office manager and administrative assistant to a member of the Virginia House of Delegates.
She loved to play with money, and make it grow. Money was supposed to work and grow. She did it very well!
She was gifted with a pleasant smile and a forceful personality. This was needed to keep her boys and husband in line. She did a good job and we loved her very much!
Goodbye Ronnie we all miss you!
George and all the family.
