Obituary

Irving A. ?Junior? Gross of Golf Course Dr. Jacksonville FL passed away on April 6 2006 after a brief illness. Irving was born in Scituate Rhode Island on May 16 1928; the only son of Allen Belmont Gross and Bertha Campbell. In 1946 after receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy he entered Civil Service. Irving spent the next 26 years employed in different phases of aviation at Quonset Point Naval Air Station North Kingstown Rhode Island. In 1973 he transferred to NAS JAX from where he retired in 1985.
Irving was a championship bowler as well as an avid golfer. He won the Greater Jacksonville Open Hole-In-One Tournament in 1976. He was a member of University Country Club and later became affiliated with Mill Cove Golf Club. Irving was also an avid New England Patriots fan.
Irving was a beloved husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn and a daughter Susan and son-in-law David Close of Palm Coast.
Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday April 24 2006 in Arlington Memorial Park Lonestar Rd. Jacksonville FL.
