Irv Silverman a longtime resident of Vero Beach FL passed away Tuesday December 27 2005 at the age of 87. His funeral services will be Friday December 30th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Cox-Gifford Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest immediately following at Crestlawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00 ? 7:00pm on Thursday December 29th also at the funeral home. Irv was born September 25 1918 to Abraham and Rose Silverman in Columbus Ohio. His work ethic got its start while he attended and graduated from Ohio State University. He became a successful businessman owning and operating cemeteries in both Michigan and Florida. In 1965 his career moved him to Vero Beach where he met the love of his life Opal. They enjoyed a life together of family times and traveling. Their marriage and his lifelong devotion to Opal has been an inspiration to all those who have known them. Late in his career Irv joined his three sons by marriage as a partner in Sloman Enterprises eventually owning and operating 12 cemeteries and funeral homes in Central and East Florida until 1989. ?Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love.? Irv was a dedicated cemeterian who loved his profession with passion. Irv taught his family many life lessons and business principles. His wisdom and insights were gifts for all who received them. Following his retirement Irv devoted his energies to his family life with Opal and the endless pursuit of refining his golfing abilities. He was devoted to all those things important to him in his life; his wife Opal his career and his golf game. Irv will be missed by all those who survive him; his wife of 37 years Opal his three sons Rick & Chris of Flint MI Bob and Claudia of Sarasota FL; Scott and Lorene of Bradenton FL; Lowell and Nancy Lohman Victor and Mary Lohman all of Ormond Beach FL; Daryl and Christine Lohman of Tampa FL; his 9 grandchildren Melissa Matthew Anya and Drew Silverman; Brian Ty Chris Lauren and Michael Lohman Breyli and Maigen Pardee and two great-grandchildren Taylor and Jordan Lohman.
