Funeral Services for Iris W. McClure Blanton age 82 who passed away Wed. Nov. 24th at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial will be Saturday Nov. 27th at Green Hill Cemetery Waynesville NC. Her family will receive friends from 7-9pm at Garrett Funeral Home in Waynesville NC. Iris was born Dec. 3 1921 in Waynesville NC to Edward and Julia McClure. She and her family moved to Ormond Beach from Waynesville NC in 1958. A devoted mother Iris volunteered teaching children to read in the ?right to read? program at the schools where her five children attended and ultimately worked for the school system for over 10 years as a media specialist. She was actively involved in the educational system in Volusia County and served as a member of the county PTA and the Past President and lifetime of the State of FL PTA. She was both a loving and fun loving woman and avid gardener and enjoyed social time with friends and relatives particularly at the holidays. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years John; her 3 daughters Clara Spangler of Daytona Beach FL; Reta Moore and son in law Frank of Ormond Beach FL ; Nancy Campbell of Waynesville NC; her 2 sons John W. Blanton III and daughter in law Monica of Holly Hill FL; James E. Blanton and daughter in law Jeanie Bunnell FL; her 3 sisters Louise Corbin and Ollie Jean McClure both of Waynesville NC; Ann Plott of Piedmont SC 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
