Obituary

Rev. Irene S. Neeley age 106 went home to be with The Lord from her residence in Palm Coast on Friday August 4 2006. A Celebration of Mrs. Neeley?s life will be held in Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church 449 S. Martin Luther King Blvd. Daytona Beach at 11 A.M.on Saturday August 12 2006 with Rev. Leroy Washington Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach on Friday August 11th from 5 until 7 p.m. with a Ritual Service of the Order of the Eastern Star to be held at 7 p.m.
Irene was born in Williams Town Exuma Bahamas on June 28 1900 to William & Rachael Stirrup. She came to the U.S. in 1913 settling in Ft. Lauderdale. In December of 1924 she married the Rev. Zepheniah Neeley in W. Palm Beach. From there the Neeleys moved to Daytona Beach where they lived for many years. In 1951 both Rev. Neeleys were naturalized as U.S. citizens together in Daytona Beach. In January 1974 Zepheniah passed away. Irene stayed busy with her duties as a Minister of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and membership of the Order of the Eastern Star and Mt. Zion AME Church. She also enjoyed gardening fishing and baby-sitting. Irene moved to Palm Coast from Daytona 3 years ago.
Along with Rev. Zepheniah she was preceded in death by 4 children Reuben John Harold & Mae; her 6 siblings and 3 grandchildren. Left to cherish their memories of Irene are her daughter Ivilla Toomer of Palm Coast; sons Obadiah Neeley of Palm Coast & William Neeley of Daytona Beach; 29grandchildren many great and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Donations may be made to Mt. Zion AME Church of Daytona Beach.
