(Mary) Irene Glenn-Meagley 99 formerly of Oneonta NY and long-time resident of Wilbur by the Sea passed away January 16 2010. She was born on October 1 1910 in Oneonta NY to John and Annetta Glenn. Irene was a graduate of Albany School of Nursing in New York and worked for 42 years as a registered nurse at Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta. She was long-time member of St. Mary's church as well as a scout leader with the Girl Scouts of America. After relocating to Florida in 1985 Irene dedicated a good part of her time to the Epiphany Roman Catholic Church in Port Orange where she became a Eucharist Minister spending most of her time reading and ministering to the sick as well as being a member of the bingo committee and rosary society. In her spare time she enjoyed reading ceramics traveling with friends and volunteering with the local "meals on wheels" team even through her 80's. Irene was a constant caregiver all her life. Whenever she was needed she was there to help. Irene will be remembered for her positive attitude and work ethic but will be treasured most for the love she had for her family. Left to cherish her memory is her son Stephen Meagley and his wife Mary of Tyrone GA son Phillip Meagley and his wife Dale of Wilbur by the Sea; grandchildren Lisa Mitchell and her husband William of Brooks GA Michelle Young and her husband William of Freeport FL Sean Meagley and his wife Laura of Binghamton NY and great-grandchildren Micah Victoria Meredith and Matthew. She was predeceased by her husband Donald to whom she was married 40 years; parents John and Annetta Glenn and brothers Lawrence Earl Glenn and John Maurice Glenn. Services will be held later in Oneonta New York.
