Ingeburg "Inge" Jenny Ipolyi (nee Bornemann), 92, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, after a multi-year struggle with a debilitating illness. ‍

Inge is survived by her son, George Jr. of Palm Coast, Florida; daughter, Christine of St. Augustine, Florida; son, Michael of Coral Springs, Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews & grandnieces in Germany.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, George, Sr.; sister, Ellen Pauls; brother, Eric Bornemann and parents, Ingeburg & Gottlieb Bornemann.

Inge was born in Luebeck, Germany on May 6, 1933.  When she was a young woman of nineteen, she emigrated to the U.S., where she found work first as a governess and later as a hairdresser.  While building her life in Mineola, New York, she tried her hand at tennis, piano, and sewing.  Her best friend, Christa, introduced her to her future husband on a blind tennis date.  Four years later, in 1961, she and George married and moved further east on Long Island, where they started a family and business.

Inge took immense joy in caring for her husband, growing family, cozy home, and burgeoning garden.  She enjoyed playing tennis with her dear friends, maintaining & expanding her gardens, spending long days at the beach with her kids in summer, entertaining in style, dressing up (which she made look effortless) and making her house a tidy, comfortable home.  As her children and her husband's business both grew, she spent more of her time shuttling the kids from one activity to another and helping at the business.

At no time would you find her lounging in a chair with a book or taking a nap -- Inge had boundless energy and was active from morning until night.

Upon retirement, she moved to Palm Coast, Florida, where she continued her love of gardening, tennis, swimming, entertaining and homemaking. Inge was dedicated to good health via tennis, water aerobics and digging up half of the backyard to create flower beds, which she tended daily and lovingly.  She and her husband were delighted with their new community in Florida and enjoyed a rich, satisfying social life.  They also took the time to travel overseas to visit with family and friends.

Inge was a playful, spirited, and sociable woman, who loved gathering with friends.  She was a natural athlete with strength & energy to spare. She took much satisfaction in caring for her family with great devotion. Towards the end of her life, particularly after the death of her beloved husband and throughout her devastating illness, she demonstrated her characteristic resilience, perseverance and grit.

She will be dearly missed, forever loved.

‍A memorial gathering of friends and family will take place between 2pm and 4pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Lohman Funeral Home in Palm Coast Chapel located at 220 Palm Coast Parkway SW, Palm Coast, Florida 32137.
