Obituary

Inez Eugenia Smiley McDaniel of Palm Coast Florida departed this life of 92 years on Monday March 22 2010 at Grand Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Palm Coast Florida. The family will receive friends on Friday March 26th from 6-9 PM at Lohman Funeral Home 220 Palm Coast Pkwy. SW Palm Coast FL (386) 449-1100 with funeral services to be celebrated on Saturday March 27th at 9:30 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Palm Coast. Graveside services and entombment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Jacksonville FL.

She was born May 19 1917 in New York City New York to the late Eugene and Ada Smiley. Both of her parents were native Floridians and migrated to New York in their early years.

In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased in death by her husband Gordon Leigh McDaniel in 1993. They were married in June 1941 for 52 years.

Inez is survived by three daughters: Eugenia McDaniel Brown (Alvin) of Palm Coast Florida; Sharon McDaniel Hollis of Palm Coast Florida; and Rhonda McDaniel Tirfagnehu (Solomon) Palm Coast Florida; five grandchildren: Gordon McDaniel Hollis (Enjoili) Danbury Conn. Joy Hollis Eurie (David) Palm Coast Florida; Samson Tirfagnehu Miami Florida; Daniel Tirfagnehu Buffalo New York; and Sabrina Tirfagnehu Miami Florida.

A great-granddaughter Abrielle Inez Hollis of Danbury Conn. also survives.

Other survivors include: sister Doris Brown Palm Coast Florida; niece Claire Brown Morris Columbus Georgia; cousin Orville Smith-Payne Castro Valley California; Carson McDaniel (Maralee) Palm Coast Florida; Sandra McDaniel Hines (Charles) Newark Delaware; Martha Dickey Gloucester Virginia; Selena Parsons Palm Coast Florida and a host of relatives and special friends; Eva Bettye Griffin Fruit Cove Florida; Elaine Thomas Palm Coast Florida; Marion Hassell Palm Coast Florida Josephine Jones Palm Coast Florida; and Dr. Alvenia L. Scriven Jacksonville Florida.

Inez attended and graduated from public school in New York City and also attended Hunter College New York. She was employed by White Plains Hospital NY Department of Radiology as an X-Ray Technician until 1976. She retired as Student Coordinator in affiliation with West Chester Community College before relocating to Florida.

She enjoyed sewing coking traveling and X-Ray Technology.

Inez was a loving and devoted wife mother sister aunt grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and loving friends.
